Streets can be quite dangerous, especially for pedesterians and cyclists, so for my Genius Hour project I decided to raise awareness about Street Safety. I chose to do this because I want the streets of Coronado to be safer. I for one, ride my bike to school almost every day, and I want to be safe while doing so. On Jan 3rd, 2019, my brother’s friend got hit by a car while biking to meet his friends. 

I think a possible scene for a crash is the intersection where Olive, E, and 8th cross. I think this because Olive is at a weird diagonal angle, causing the person coming up 8th to look over their shoulder to see if anyone’s coming. While they are doing that, they don’t see the person coming down Olive, and POW! A car crash. In addition, according to the Coronado Eagle and Journal, from Dec. 13th to Dec. 20th 2018, there have been 4 car crashes on 8th.
