STOP THE EXTORTION OF DJS, EVENT PROMOTERS AND VENUES BY COTT AND TTCO

TTCO and COTT have stated:
"For this upcoming Carnival period, all Event/Fete Promoters, Venue Owners, DJs / Sound Systems MUST OBTAIN A NEIGHBOURING RIGHTS LICENSE FROM THE TTCO, ALONG WITH A COPYRIGHT LICENSE FROM COTT."
In essence, all event promoters, venues, DJ and Sound systems must pay for 2 licenses. So COTT and TTCO are double and triple taxing us, in order to gain revenue. In addition, both COTT and TTCO have raised thier
fees AGAIN, with no explanation as to why they deemed it necessary to do so! For 2016, as a DJ I will have to pay upwards of $2800.00 for both licenses!
Without us, the artistes' music will never be heard, there will be nowhere for them to perform, and no royalties will be paid to them!
We are advocating for the following:
1. A ONE License system, where the License should be paid by the promoter or venue where the event is being held. DJs and Sound Companies should be covered under this license. In the event of Carnival Trucks, The Truck should have a license, which would cover all DJs/performers on the truck.
2. We request to see the audited financials of both COTT and TTCO for the past 5 years. We want to see if they are really paying artistes.
