Alerting parents allows them to be proactive rather than reactive!

I'm signing because this will be a never ending cycle of lice if the schools continue on with no protocol.

Would like some kind of ordinance in place to prevent lice from spreading.

I have unfortunately, had the experience of my daughter getting lice from school four times. Not once was anything said to me that it was continuously being spread throughout the school. I, as a mother, kept her at home to ensure that she didn't infect others. I feel is important that we are notified, so that we can take precautions ahead of time before it's too late and they already have lice.

It's common sense that head lice can be a serious issue. It is expensive to treat, especially if you have multiple children in the home. I have a daughter with an autoimmune disorder, who is allergic to many types of bugs. Luckily, we have not had lice in our household (knock on wood), but if it did happen, it could have serious effects on my child. Change this policy.

I'm signing because the district has yet to respond to my email, sent in January, about this very topic. Although I was diligent in checking my children's hair once I heard that there was lice one of the elementary schools, I was too late. My children had no contact with any children from that school, as it's across town from where we live, but my youngest still brought home lice. Possibly due to a sibling from the affected school transfering it to a student that attends the prek, where my youngest picked it up. We were caught unprepard and it put a financial burden on us to treat our family of 4 and our apartment. The lice policy NEEDS to change.
