Surrounding communities like Galesburg and Monmouth both have splash pads for their youth to utilize at their park. I know that kids in Abingdon, travel to both of these cities in the summer to enjoy the splash pads. Why not build one in our own community, for all our residents to have a chance to visit? 

I propose we raise the funds to tear out the old tennis courts that are rarely used at Abingdon's Legion park, and install our own splash pad in its place! I want to use this petition to gauge the community excitement about a splash pad. Please sign if you would be interested, or in favor of this project. If we have enough support, I will move forward with presenting a proposal to the Abingdon city council. Our very own place within walking distance to cool off on those long summer days?! Yes please!!
