“ Control counter productive movement of sponsored domiciliary care workers”
Why this petition matters
Currently the UK is having great difficulty in finding care staff and thankfully the skilled worker shortage list was enhanced and care workers were added in order to relieve the pressures caused by staff shortage. After the introduction of certificates of sponsorships the NHS and the private sector have both benefitted from by recruiting nurses and carers alike. Subsequently with the increasing cost of living ,domiciliary care continues to be the least favourable sector to employ staff in with care being paid on contact time. Care providers within the domiciliary care sector are losing staff who are now transferring their sponsorships to care homes and the NHS, where overall payments and hours worked are steady and all inclusive.Small domiciliary companies are now finding themselves at the mercy of the NHS and nursing homes as staff are transferring their sponsorship and leaving their parent recruiter in the lurch to constantly look for new staff replacements. Small companies are painstakingly recruiting staff using their small budgets, only to lose them to the big companies. We need help in regulating and controlling this movement of staff that have been employed on this skilled worker visa as the current condition will inevitably see the already poorly paid domiciliary care providers hang their boots due to the counter productive working conditions and uncontrolled COS movements. Please help us small domiciliary/care providers retain staff through better controls on transfers between COS’s. Small Care providers a requesting a binding clause supported by the home office that would require staff to stay with their sponsors for at least the term applied for on their visa.
