Sheriff Livingston has proven himself
undeserving of the community’s trust.

• Livingston refuses to share misconduct
reports because it’s too much work for him,
even though no other county has refused to
do so. This directly violates the state’s new
transparency laws.

• Several former Contra Costa County inmates
have pressed charges against the Sheriff’s
Office, only for Livingston to brush them
under the rug, calling the cases
“ridiculous.”

• Livingston denied for several years that West
County Detention Facility conditions were
inhumane. State reports confirm that they are.

To halt these civil rights abuses we need a civilian oversight commission for our sheriff.

Our Board of Supervisors have the power to make this a reality

What is a Civilian Oversight Committee?

Citizen oversight is the assembly of citizens, who are tasked with direct involvement in the citizen complaints process and develop solutions to improve government accountability.

The purpose of the Commission is to improve public transparency and accountability with respect to the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department, by providing robust opportunities for community engagement, ongoing analysis and oversight of the department's policies, practices, procedures, and advice to the Board of Supervisors, the Sheriff's Department and the public.

Join the movement of concerned residents throughout the county to make sure we hold our elected officials accountable and demand the creation of a civilian oversight commission
