Continue to allow the sale of fireworks to those over the age 18.

Fireworks originated in China some 2,000 years ago. The use of fireworks has evolved into a time honoured tradition to mark days at times of celebration.
This petition is in place to request that the City of Vancouver decree that Fireworks will continue to be sold to those 18 years of age in metro vancouver in/on/or around holiday and celebratory times
Statistics show that improper use/handling is the leading cause of injury and property damage in regards to firework displays or usage.
Although we do believe that fireworks should be available to the public, We would like to urge the city to seriously look into the illegal sales of fireworks and sales where those under age of 18 where are successful buyers as we believe that these occurrences have lead to and continue to lead to improper handling which can result in anything from minor burns to death and/or destruction of property.
Please share this campaign with your friends and family within the lower mainland, we need a sufficient number signatures to convince Vancouver city council to focus on illegal sales, sales to those under the age of 18, and to allow those 'of age' to continue to CHOOSE whether they would like to participate in purchasing fireworks or not.
Please feel free to email your support around this campaign to MayorAndCouncil@vancouver.ca
