Consumers must have the right to choose who repairs their vehicles! They also have the right to choose competitively priced, quality parts and services.

Car companies are using many different tactics to create and maintain monopolies on vehicle services and replacement parts that prohibits competition and ultimately cost consumers thousands of dollars when repairing or simply maintaining their vehicles. Not only do these efforts, such as Design Patents and Certified Repair Centers, limit choice they also will increase the cost of insurance premiums.

Additionally these monopolies can cause the repair cost to exceed the vehicle market value leading to a "total loss" determination by the insurance company. This settlement could be less than the vehicle's loan value leaving the consumer obligated to pay the balance, which limits their ability to purchase a true replacement vehicle. As vehicles become more complex, and we evolve to new technologies such as electric vehicles and collision avoidance systems, repairs will be even more costly so we must retain a vibrant aftermarket to provide affordable quality parts and services to choose from.
