Consumer Financial Protection Bureau: Stop cemeteries from disinterring/dumping bodies and reselling burial plots
The cemetery industry in this country is engaging in illegal and immoral practice of disinterring the deceased, and re-selling their gravesites. As shocking and appalling as this is, there seems to be little interest in the matter by the law-enforcement and justice system to put a stop to this degrading and immoral practice.
We request the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau investigate and stop against this practice by instituting laws to prevent it. In truth, we all face being victimized by this and having our beloved family members dishonored and disrespected in this manner. I don't need to point out that this could be our own or loved one's corpses that are disinterred in the future.
Our family recently discovered "missing graves" in Patrick’s Cemetery in Rouse’s Point, NY. We would be happy to be the “poster child” if you should decide to investigate and advocate against this practice. We can use all the help we can get in investigating and publicizing this story, and advocating against this ghoulish practice!
There have been several stories in the media recently about cemeteries scamming families by reselling old plots ... The following link is a story by Consumers Digest about this practice:
I'm sure I don't need to point out that the practice of reselling plots is illegal in New York and most (if not all) other states. When asked to be accountable, the cemeteries conceniently say they the records have been lost or destroyed.
