I have always been captivated by the breathtaking beauty of the Stephen Llewellyn Trail. It’s drop-dead gorgeous, and just a 15-minute walk from my house leads me to Airport Rd, where I can almost reach it. But there’s a huge problem: there’s no pedestrian crossing at Airport Rd and Misty Morning Dr.

Every time I need to access the trail, I find myself at a crossroads, literally. I end up having to walk an additional 15 minutes to either Bovaird Dr E/Castlemore Rd or Humberwest Pkwy just to find a safe place to cross the road. This doesn't just take precious time but also exposes me to potential hazards, given the high traffic in the area.

The presence of a safe, direct pedestrian crossing at this location wouldn’t just make the journey quicker and safer for me but for countless other residents who cherish outdoor activities and wish to enjoy the serene surrounds of our community.

A pedestrian crossing here is not just a convenience—it's a necessity. According to traffic data, Airport Rd is one of the busiest roads in the area, with thousands of vehicles passing through daily, increasing the risk for pedestrians trying to cross at unmarked spots. By installing a crossing, we can ensure safety for everyone, including families, the elderly, and even our furry companions who enjoy the outdoors.

We propose that the City of Brampton conducts a feasibility study and consider the implementation of traffic lights or a pedestrian bridge that can facilitate safe crossing. This solution would undoubtedly benefit the community by promoting healthier lifestyles, reducing the risk of accidents, and allowing access to our beloved nature walks with minimal risk.
