Kendall Sisler started this petition to Uniontown Area School District and

Board Members,

As elected officials, you've committed to serve as representatives and advocates for your community, prioritizing the needs and interests of students and the public school system. It is not only your duty, but a committed promise to listen to, work with, and deliver to your constituents what they ask of you when it comes to the well being of both the students and the tax payers.

Consolidating Uniontown Area and Laurel Highlands School Districts would be advantageous for students, faculties, and tax payers, along with fostering a greater sense of community that will serve this area in several ways.

The merge would create an inclusive environment, opening the door for students to learn, participate in extracurricular activities, and socialize within a more diverse student body. Greater opportunities for a quality selection of elective courses inevitably opens the minds of children and young adults, making them more well-versed individuals, while taking place in classrooms that are spread equally through logistics and use of facilities.
It goes without saying that athletic and fine arts programs will thrive, giving students the ability to maximize their potential, enabling them to perform and grow with one another in larger, more talented numbers.

This movement would likely provide for a more efficient utilization of resources to be put into place, serving students, faculty, and staff. Better negotiated contracts would allow for proper implementation of staffing and the elimination of classroom crowding, providing students with a more conducive environment to learning. In addition, more accountability for administrators and School Board Members would result, addressing the ongoing concerns of the constituents.

This is an attempt for the first step to be taken; a conversation between both school boards. If we continue to do things "the way they've always been done," we aren't growing. We have incredible talent in this community; administrators, teachers, and students, being funded by hard working American taxpayers. Let's make the most of it and get together to see where we can incorporate our strengths and evolve into something greater.
