Oppose Settlement of a Super Wawa in Conshohocken

0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!

Developers are conducting closed door discussions with Borough Council to allow a Super Wawa at the EF Moore Chevrolet dealership on Fayette Street. Misinformation has led some folks to believe it is a done deal. It's not! A new settlement is in the works behind closed doors. If approved, the borough could approve an amendment to the Residential-Office zoning district. The Super Wawa would become your neighbor.

We are the Conshohocken Revitalization Alliance (CRA). Our goal is to build a consensus around the future development of Conshohocken that preserves and is consistent with the historic character of the community, protects old and welcomes new businesses, and stimulates the local economy. Would you support this?

A Super Wawa will diminish the walkability and “main street” feel andwill contradict everything for which Conshohocken was built for the following reasons:

1. A Super Wawa will severely add to the traffic congestion, inducing new traffic patterns through neighborhood avenues and alleys, inviting commercial vehicles into the borough day and night, and increasing the risk of collision and pedestrian injury.

2. Allowing a Super Wawa to develop in the middle of the residential neighborhoods of upper Fayette Street and around the athletic fields and schools will put residents and children in danger of injury and will trigger safety hazards.

3. Super Wawa will cause increased noise and light pollution, and will decrease the property value for the properties in the vicinity of the site. I feel a Super Wawa will reduce competition and siphon income from our independent businesses, which are the lifeblood of our community. They have helped foster the culture and character of Conshohocken, making it a desirable community for visitors and residents.

We strongly urge you to appose any settlement for a Super Wawa.We believe a Super Wawa will lead us in the wrong direction, and does not fit the complexion or the character of the community. By signing this letter, I vow to support only those council members who oppose the Super Wawa.
