District New Haven started this petition to Connecticut State Legislature and

SIGN THIS PETITION TODAY BEFORE WE MISS ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO GET THIS STARTED!

Now is the time. We can't let another legislative session pass without real investment in our future–in the future of our transportation system.

Economic prosperity and connectivity are bound together. For years we have kicked the can down the road and let our transportation system fall apart. We are not well connected.

- Highway traffic sucks.

- Train travel times are worse now than they were two-plus decades ago!

- Close to half of our state use airports in NYC! The air is the future.

NONE OF THIS IS GOOD FOR BUSINESS.

NONE OF THIS IS ATTRACTING PEOPLE/BUSINESS TO OUR STATE.

Now is the time to push our legislators to fix it and there is a reasonable plan in place to do so, called CT2030

Highlights Include:

  • Faster Rail - 20 minutes faster by 2023 & the 30-30-30 plan by 2030
  • Safe Bridges and Tunnels
  • Wider Roads
  • More Air Transportation Hubs
  • More friendly waterways!

To pay for it, it's time to institute user fees on the highways for all the pass-through travelers that benefit from our tax dollars. Otherwise, it is all on us, on our tax dollars alone.

Fun Fact: In the past, to pay for our state's transportation expenses, we received a portion of the gas tax. Who paid for gas? Us! Everyone else could drive through the state without filling up. And with more cars becoming more and more efficient or not even needing gas, what do you think is happening to that money? It's shrinking.

User fees are a way to revenue that is needed to fix our problems.
