Overweight and Obesity affect 2/3 of American citizens and are  know causes of Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and increase the risk of many types of cancer. It is estimated that Obesity costs over $149Billion per year in medical treatments alone according to the George Washington University Milken Institute report. Obesity is treatable and preventable with proper care.

Unfortunately, obesity treatment is only available for about 1 in three Connecticut residents with commercial insurance.

There is a bill proposed in the General Assembly which will increase access to care to these life saving treatments for Connecticut residents.
