As a parent raising a child with trauma and attachment disruption-rooted, mental illness conditions, I know first hand the challenges facing parents in my shoes. The road to help a child heal and one day thrive, should not be made even more challenging by ignorance and budget cuts. It should not be paved with accusations of harm or wrong doing, or threats and haressment. Parents who ask for support services, and access to appropriate treatment options and more must be believed, taken seriously, supported and encouraged to do all they can for their impaired child. Any less is unacceptable. Society demands, that despite cost and complexity, parents be afforded any and all necessary tools to ensure the healthiest and/ or appropriate outcome for their child, and in doing so, protect society as a whole.
