Town Hall Meeting with Congressman Graves in GA 14th District

We, constituents of Georgia's 14th Congressional District, petition our Congressional representative, Tom Graves, to meet in a public Town Hall meeting in the first quarter for 2017.
In the wake of the 2016 presidential election, District 14 voters of all political parties harbor deep reservations about the President’s policy agenda. Rep. Graves will vote on many important issues in the 115th Congress, and in his capacity as Chair Appropriations Subcommittee for Financial Services will exercise a crucial influence on our federal budget. Key issues likely to arise include repeal of the Affordable Care Act, funding for Women's Health, the structure and funding of infrastructure investment, whether NASA will continue to track climate change, reviving criminal justice reform, shifting Medicare to a system of private accounts, and many others. As constituents of Rep. Graves, we would like to share questions and concerns with him, hear about his policy agenda, and discuss the issues that will be most important to Georgia and the nation in the coming years.
Town hall meetings are central to the health of a representative democracy. We live in an age of constant e-mails, texts and social media. Yet there is no substitute for face-to-face interaction between constituents and their elected representative. Congressman Graves has not hosted or attended a public Town Hall meeting in quite a long time, and according to his staff has no current plans to do so. Written and verbal requests for such a meeting have gone unacknowledged. In these extraordinary times, it is crucial that Rep. Graves meet his constituents in an open setting to hear and respond to their concerns.
