Whether you DO or DO NOT support the US Navy, the environmental concerns of Pearl Harbor should be your concern too! 

Pearl Harbor Navy Base is well-kept, however I have worked at the Navy's piers and I have seen how much trash collects on and around the piers. Specifically, all ships have oil booms placed around them incase an oil spill occurs - the trash collects inside the booms. When I inquired whether or not someone cleans up the garbage, I was told that when the ships leave port the trash gets pulled out into the water and dispersed. This trash will most likely be ingested by the fish and turtles that inhabit Oahu, and most likely kill them.

This could be ENTIRELY avoided if someone was appointed to clean up the trash that collects around the ship's booms before they depart.
