Texas H.B. 281

We are a TWU social work group trying to advocate for Texas House Bill 281, which is the comprehensive statewide electronic tracking system for sexual assault survivors that obtained a SANE exam( rape kit). This bill will require the Department of Public Safety to allow the survivors to monitor rape kits from the time of collection to processing.
We strive to help sexual assault survivors with the recovery and continuing legal process after the Sexual Assault Exam has been completed.
Allowing survivors to track or receive updates anonymously it gives them piece of mind knowing they have access to location and status of their kits. By giving them control, it negates the loss of control felt because of the sexual assault experience. It shows them they do matter.
