Protect the Civil Rights of 1866!
Why this petition matters
A brief history on the attack: Mr. Allen filed a lawsuit against Comcast and Charter due to discriminatory reason and won both in the 9th Circuit court of Appeals. Therefore Comcast and Charter decided to take it up to Supreme Court with the help of Trump DOJ to get rid of the CIVIL RIGHTS of 1866 and their case was accepted.
As the historic Supreme Court case between African-American businessman, philanthropist Byron Allen against the Comcast Corporation and Charter Communications swiftly approaches, many trying to understand what exactly is at stake for Black entrepreneurs nationwide.
Allen used the Civil Rights Act of 1866, which was created to protect Black people from discriminatory business practices, to prove that Comcast and Charter were biased in his efforts to do business with them and won. Therefore they're furious about it. Statistics proved that in the $25 billion that are spent annually on channels licensing less than $2.5 million went to black owned media
At this point what is at stake? Well the Civil Rights of 1866 is! There’s a chance that the Supreme Court will side with Comcast and Charter by dismantling those critical protections provided under Section 1981 of the Civil Rights Act of 1866 and in doing so, erase equal opportunity protections afforded under the Act.
COMCAST FEELS LIKE THEY'LL WIN AND GET RID OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS OF 1866 IN SUPREME COURT UNDER THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION. THAT'S RACISM IN ITS PUREST FORM.
BLACKS WON'T BE THE ONLY ONE SUFFERING. ALL MINORITIES WILL! (HISPANICS, ASIANS, WOMEN etc.)
LET THEM HEAR YOUR VOICE! LETS GET TOGETHER AND STOP COMCAST!
