Returning veterans need our help.
On September 5th of this year, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (VA) ruled that it would no longer provide service dogs to veterans with mental health trauma, nor reimburse veterans who had purchased them for that purpose. At a time when so many of our servicemembers are returning home with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), this decision is truly unfortunate. More, not less, mental health support is urgently needed—and deserved. Research has shown the benefits of properly trained service dogs for victims of trauma to be significant, as well as an effective long-term therapy solution.
Our veterans deserve better than this. Please join with us in reversing this policy.
Department of Veterans’ Affairs’ Decision
We ask that the VA reverse its policy, and not waver in its commitment to the mental health of veterans with PTSD and TBI. Our veterans deserve better than this.
