Due to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, many states across the nation are making the decision to cancel on-campus learning for the remainder of the school year. Months ago, no one would have imagined a disruption of life in this magnitude. Devastatingly, this news has caused an enormous emotional toll on the estimated 3.5 million high school seniors across the country. When waking up for school on March 13, 2020, students could not have imagined this was their last chance to interact with their beloved friends and teachers.  Eagerly anticipated events including prom, spring sports, and graduation are now at risk of being postponed or cancelled. In the blink of an eye, the joyous upcoming events were swiftly and unexpectedly robbed from them by an invisible enemy. These long-awaited moments and cherished memories can never be replaced. As a result of the economic turmoil caused by the Virus, the United States government has decided to provide direct financial relief to tax paying citizens and businesses that employ them. In lieu of lost memories of high school seniors, we are calling upon our elected officials to include legislation in the fourth Coronavirus Relief Package to cover the cost of tuition at any post secondary institution in the country for the high school seniors affected by the novel coronavirus. Please consider signing and sharing this petition for our seniors who have to miss the most cherished moments of high school!
