Jaden Kindle started this petition to Congress

In the year 2020, when the coronavirus changed the lives of Americans drastically, the United States government passed two Coronavirus Stimulus Packages, one in March 2020, and another in December 2020. These bills, while very helpful to those who needed them, neglected to provide relief to an entire demographic of people: college students.

Most adult college students in America, primarily those aging in range from 18-25, received $0.00 from the federal government during the global pandemic. These students, in addition to being dedicated scholars, work hard, make money, have financial responsibilities, and experienced the same global pandemic as the rest of the country, but received no relief from the United States like other adults did. This is largely due to the fact that these students are still claimed on their parent’s taxes as dependents, which means that these adults continue to suffer greatly during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

With the new government officials being sworn into office in both the Executive and Legislative branches, new COVID relief is on the way. This petition was created so that with the new roll-out of stimulus payments, college-aged students will be included. Change is possible, and it’s obvious that with the traction that this movement has amassed, people want to see that change happen.
