Owner Specific Laws not Breed Specific Laws

There are several breeds of dog, Pit Bull specifically that get a bad rap because some owners think it's okay to starve, beat, and generally abuse these sweet creatures. Yes, some pit bulls are violent but that's only because their owner made them that way. Yet, many of us want to blame the breed and not the owner. You tie a Golden Retriever to a post by a three foot leash and deny him food for God knows how long and he will become vicious too and Goldens are notoriously the most affectionate dogs around. We need to petition not just our state governments but the entire country to stop this prejudice and save this breed from further cruelty.

I just signed the following petition addressed to: Congress.
