Adrenal Insufficiency Awareness Day Congressional Enactment

Adrenal insufficiency (AI) diseases are life-threatening and more awareness is needed to save lives. People of all ages, races and backgrounds are affected by AI, a failure of the body’s adrenal glands to produce the critical stress hormone “cortisol.” Without this needed hormone or synthetic medical replacement therapy people with AI will lose their lives. This is occurring at a tragic but preventable rate.

Since December 2012 the Adrenal Diseases Support Group has been working with the National Adrenal Diseases Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to try to officially enact an “Adrenal Insufficiency Diseases Awareness Day” to take place on April 10 each year. This project has been on hold for a few years, but we are hoping with the involvement of a congressman and senator we have fostered a renewed interest in this cause, and that with additional petition signatures we can make this happen. For those who might wonder, we chose April 10 because April is already the unofficial AI Awareness Month and then we took the letters "A" (the first letter of the alphabet) and the letter "I" (the ninth letter) to add up to "10."

Your signature on this petition could literally save lives, and on behalf of everybody struggling with these diseases and hoping for a brighter future, I thank you in advance for your help.
