America has a history of racializing canine violence beginning with slave and fugitive slave attacks. Using canines against any person is inhumane however Black and Brown people are disproportionately and senselessly victimized by police canine violence.

Protests resulting from the 2014 murder of Michael Brown prompted a Ferguson, Missouri veterinarian Dan Wentz to start a fundraiser to implant titanium crowns on the teeth of a police canine.

Police have allegedly labeled black and brown people as dog biscuits or treats.

The current leader of the United States of America has threatened that vicious dogs would attack citizens protesting against the murder of George Floyd.

The indiscriminate and often intentional violence by racialized trained police canine against black and brown people is cruel and unjust and should be illegal.
