Help Africa and Stop AIDS!
HIV/AIDS is a disease that weakens a person's immune system and makes them a lot more vulnerable to other sickness. A person who has AIDS can easily die of the common flu virus, and as of 2019 there were 38 million people in the world with AIDS, with over 70% of those 38 million people living in Africa. With the simple distribution of condoms and other treatment, Africa would not have to deal with millions of deaths from AIDS. Children in Africa would not have to die everyday if the US distributed condoms in Africa. Children wouldn't have to watch family members die everyday, if the US distributed condoms in Africa.
About 26 out of the 38 million people in the world with AIDS, live in Sub-Saharan Africa, and most of the deaths seen in the region have been from AIDS. That number being about 730,000 in 2017 alone. As time goes on and as we continue to sit back and watch these people die in the streets, the problem only gets worse. Which is why we need to act now and help stop AIDS before it spreads out of Africa and becomes rampant across the world. Countries have shown how acting against AIDS is effective and does work. Uganda began distributing condoms and other remedies for the disease in the 90s. Now, Uganda has the lowest AIDS rate in Africa, compared to its neighbors. South Africa saw 72,000 deaths from AIDS in just 2019.
Overall, the AIDS epidemic is something to look into and to help stop. We can help stop the problem by getting our government to stop watching it happen, and to actually help these people. Our country can financially support the distribution of condoms in Africa, however we don't.
