Hello 

I am a ICU RN who has been working in multiple hospital systems since 2004. Why do I do it? Because I love helping people in need; Plus learning from my patients & families. I don’t think many people understand how difficult COVID was/is for the nursing community. How supplies were/are limited, staff shortages, management not being honest about hospital changes, low wages, risking our lives, watching not only patients die but our coworkers. Being terrified for ourselves and our loved ones, being first responders to it all. In my nursing career I have never seen so much death, suffering & fear.  The nursing community has been front-liners from the beginning and we continue to work toward helping the sick and giving so much of ourselves to not only our patients, put to our communities, & helping each other. 
Capping travel nursing pay is absolutely a slap in the nursing communities face. Nursing has been under-payed, under-values & under-appreciated for far too long! Nurses deserve compensation for our efforts and time given, especially during the COVID pandemic where so many of us have been sick, injured due to proning multiple patients while understaffed, unable to take lunch breaks, unable to take bathroom breaks. It’s time to stop taking away from Nursing! How can we be called “Super Heroes” when we are being treated so insignificantly? Why is no one speaking on caping CEOs who are making millions? Why are bonuses still being given to these individuals when the bedside care of patients are so greatly compromised? This is the REAL ISSUE! There has to be a better alternative than to cap the pay of the hardworking nursing community who go to work in positive spirits to take care of this countries loved ones.
