I would like to first give thanks to our military members and families for the sacrifice and hardships they face on daily basis. We are an active duty family that is stationed overseas in Germany. We have been here for 1 week and we have realized the impact that soldiers and their families as ours have encountered. The issue at hand is Housing we were notified that there was no availability on post and had to go out into the local economy to look for a home. We understand that this can happen and we are more than glad to live off post and find a home. With that being said we also would like to be treated fairly in regards to rent and moneys of extra amenities that are normally included with the home. We are currently seeing and experiencing housing inequality in these areas where military members and families are living. We would like to see changes in housing regulations specifically rent prices and perhaps change how our host country allows this to happen. We are also experiencing exploitation from our host country nationals they are price gauging on housing rentals and asking for more moneys when the landlords find out that they are Americans or military affiliated. From my understanding in January 2020 the government had made an agreement on housing prices and now the host country and landlords can raise prices as they see fit. With that being said some of our military members have personally seen local national workers who represents U.S military housing tell the local national landlords to raise the price of rent because xxx amount would be covered under military members housing allowance.I Find this very disturbing considering that we have many military members asking for reference from the military housing representatives. We hope that this issue can bring some awareness to the housing issue and housing inequality here in Germany.  We hope to bring change and take action on behalf of our military members and families.
