End Homelessness by Passing the: Fighting Homelessness Through Services and Housing Act
Why this petition matters
Homelessness is a huge issue in America today. In 2019, 567,715 Americans were reported homeless. That is not including the many homeless individuals who are not recorded in those numbers. While there are many resources in our local communities that serve this vulnerable population, they often lack resources to keep up with the high demand for housing, food and shelter for these individuals. By passing the Fighting Homelessness Through Services and Housing Act, it will allow for either a planning grant or an implementation grant to be awarded to organizations or entities in need of housing that serve the homeless population. Through these grants, the organizations and entities would be able to better house and care for their patrons. Not only that, but they would be able to provide for many more homeless individuals. If more housing were to become available for these individuals, it would allow for them to have more time to get back on their feet again and receive access to more resources that they may need. Passing this act would not only benefit the homeless population, but the communities in which they live. When an individuals basic need of shelter is met, that is when they can begin to work towards stability and rebuilding their lives. It is time that America makes a change to better serve its struggling citizens. It is time that we walk alongside our homeless neighbors and assist them rather than ignore them. It is time we make a change as a community, and passing this act would allow us to make a change in the right direction.
