Condemn Rep. Joe Hohenstein's Stance on ICE

Condemn Rep. Joe Hohenstein's Stance on ICE
The Issue
I believe we should be very strict about our country’s immigration laws. As a former resident of the 177th District, I am deeply disturbed by Rep. Joe Hohenstein's call for Governor Josh Shapiro to cease cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Pennsylvania. It is important that we hold our elected officials accountable when they choose to ignore or undermine our laws.
Immigration is a vital part of America's history and identity, yet it must be handled in a lawful and orderly fashion. Ignoring ICE’s role in enforcing immigration laws sends a misguided message, compromising the integrity of our legal system and potentially endangering our communities.
Rep. Joe Hohenstein's actions are not only irresponsible but also disrespect the voice of Pennsylvanian citizens who believe in the importance of lawful immigration and the enforcement of our laws. His stance weakens the authority of ICE and undermines the efforts to manage our borders effectively.
Hohenstein's proposal could lead to reduced safety in our community, disregarding the rules that ensure immigration is conducted legally and safely. His call could also result in a less structured and potentially chaotic system, affecting the safety and well-being of legal immigrants and citizens alike, thus creating potential challenges in our efforts to uphold national security.
We must stand firm against officials who seek to ignore vital components of our national security framework. By condemning Rep. Joe Hohenstein's proposal, we send a clear message that respecting and enforcing immigration laws is crucial for maintaining order and safety in our community.
Sign this petition to hold Rep. Joe Hohenstein accountable and to insist on the continued cooperation with ICE. Let's ensure that our elected officials respect our immigration laws and policies, thereby protecting the safety and well-being of all residents in the 177th District, Philadelphia, and beyond. Join us in making a stand for lawful and secure immigration practices.
