Dear Concordia University Administration,

With regards to the current situation of COVID-19, the student body of Concordia University is overwhelmed by the new regulations put in place without any prior notice of taking evaluations and changes to the grading scheme.

We realize that no measure can be perfect in regards to evaluating students from their homes as we also understand that there is always a possibility of students cheating on their exams when taken online. Considering this issue, we have heard that the University is proposing proctored webcam exams. This approach is unrealistic and inadequate as it disregards the sensitivity of the current situation since every individual is handling this pandemic differently from the rest. As a result, this online exam system will do nothing but increase the level of anxiety and stress for the students especially those living in small residences with multiple family members and poor internet connection where disturbance cannot be avoided. Therefore, this will hinder numerous people to perform to the best of their abilities in final exams.

On behalf of the student body of Concordia University, we demand that the University suspends all forms of final exams and replaces them with take-home projects and assignments. This will not only allow students to complete the semester with a bit of ease in such a stressful and sensitive time, the projects and assignments will also them to apply their critical thinking skills and knowledge. As a result, this would help them not only pass the course but understand the concepts they are learning in a more comprehensive way along with it being in accordance with them working on their own pace, time and comfort zone in this difficult time.
