The City of Concord's website states that its 14 public playgrounds have been renovated since 1994 with state-of-the-art playground equipment. All playgrounds have been inspected to ensure compliance with the latest safety standards and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) so that children of all ages and abilities will be able to enjoy the experience. Unfortunately, this is not the case for the playground at Willow Pass Park. This small playground has few interesting elements and the equipment has deteriorated significantly throughout the years. It is so infrequently used by the kids in the community that Concord does not even bother to mention the playground when describing Willow Pass Park on its website.
Joan Carrico, director of Parks and Recreation, at my request will submit the replacement of the playground as a Capital Improvement Project during the next budget process. But it will be considered with a number of other unnamed competing projects for very limited funds. Please sign this petition indicating that Willow Pass Park is important to the Concord community and we want a safe and stimulating playground for our kids.
