Xavier College Preparatory is struggling with acknowledging the epidemic of sexual violence affecting hundreds of their students. Xavier being a Catholic institution naturally teaches the Catholic principle of abstinence to their students with little to no education on what consent is. While basic sex education was something Bee Aware advocated strongly for, now more than ever is sex education essential for young adults. 

 Denying women of the choice to have children or not REQUIRES you teach the risks of engaging in sexual activities to young adults and teenagers. If Xavier refuses to take action against sexual violence and provide sex education to young women, Xavier must accept the fact that there is a risk students may be forced into unwanted pregnancies at a young age. 

 Xavier cannot continue to ignore this issue any longer. How much longer are they willing to put their students well being in jeopardy because of religious belief? How many young girls will become pregnant until administration realizes they can no longer bury their heads in religious teachings? 

 We are not asking that Xavier stray away from their Catholic teachings of abstinence until marriage; but we are asking that Xavier provides students with the general knowledge to protect themselves against sexual abuse by providing comprehensive consent and sex education. 

It is time Xavier brushes aside their indifference and choose to protect their students rather than not. They cannot continue to fail anymore students than they already have.
