Uber to stay till more firm competition in Singapore

I'm Chole Tan, a Singaporean mother of two little boys whom are currently studying in Pre School. Both my husband and I work in the CBD and our little family resides at the northern part of Singapore, Ang Mo Kio. Like many fellow married couples, my husband and I would send our kids to school in the morning, we then make our way to work via a taxi or Uber usually. In the evening, whoever is available took turns to rush to the pre school via taxi or Uber to pick my kids up before school closes at 7pm. Ever since Uber and Grab announced their merger, we experienced the soar in fares during the peak hour as well as challenge of getting a Taxi or Grab. I'm comfortable to pay 10 to 20% higher than standard taxi fares as it is within my means. However, fares were often much more higher than 20% and getting a Taxi via booking are challenging as well as some of the Taxi Uncles are probably waiting for the higher fare bookings from Grab application too. As you may already know that the traffic at CTE towards Ang Mo Kio is pretty jammed during the 5pm to 8pm period despite having the need of paying ERP, I would take a couple of tries for me to get a driver even at a premium price as many driver do not want to be engaging the traffic jam. This situation did not exist on Uber as well as fares were friendlier. I'm pretty sure many Singaporeans that are located at the northern part are pretty affected by this issue. I hope you will take into consideration of our appeal on allowing Uber to stay until new platform are ready to cater to our local needs.

Thank you!
