First, what is UBER and Grab?

Uber is essentially synonymous with taxis, and to drivers, it's basically a referral service. The Android, iOS and Windows Phone app connects riders with drivers using their phone's GPS capabilities, letting both parties know one another's location and removing the question of when the ride will actually arrive.

Grab is an automated smartphone based booking and dispatch platform. It matches passengers with drivers for transport by taxis, cars and bikes.

People uses Uber and Grab application because it is more convenient, reliable and trustworthy. Most people feel more comfortable and safe and they prefer riding an Uber and Grab than regular taxi. What's nice about this application is they have good drivers and good service. And they don't DISCRIMINATE passengers. #WeWantUberGrab

Why did Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) want to suspend this application?

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) suspended Uber operations for one month, which means they cannot accredit driver applicants and most importantly it will stop its online booking application for an entire calendar month. The agency suspended Uber for violating the directive... prohibiting the further acceptance of additional accreditation of Transport Network Vehicle Service ( TNVS) and activation of accounts.

For Grab, Grab's accreditation expired last July and has not been renewed, but Grab has so far complied with the LTFRB's orders to stop accepting and accrediting new drivers – the rule that Uber supposedly violated.

These are the reasons why LTFRB should not suspend UBER and Grab :

  • More reliable
  • More convenient
  • Plenty of options
  • Fare Share
  • Opportunities for free rides
  • It can track your vehicle location
  • And it Costs Less
