Speed Humps on Lakepoint Rd

Speed Humps on Lakepoint Rd

Several years ago Hwy 231 was 4-laned and bypassed Compass Lake. When that occurred, we thought our community would be safer with much less traffic. Instead we have seen motorists driving at faster speeds and being more careless. We were able to eventually get the speed limit lowered, but of course that didn’t slow most down. From the bar south to Compass Lake Drive, homeowners fear for the lives of their animals and even themselves. Cars have been known to bust through fences almost entering homes and numerous pets have been killed. Personally, I have had 3 pets killed and was almost hit by a careless motorist while standing on the side of the road in front of my home. I have lived at three separate addresses on Lakepoint Road and have watched this problem get progressively worse over the years. Just this morning as I was working from home, I could hear vehicles speeding by and would look up to see who it was driving at such a high rate of speed. I saw all types of vehicles from large trucks pulling utility trailers to even law enforcement. The only way to slow them down in our family friendly community, is to add speed humps. We have two boat ramps and many homes with children in this area. Numerous people ride bikes, jog, and walk along this road. We are a family oriented community. If we can come together and agree that we want and need this, it will push through to force the county to add the speed humps. Please sign this petition and share it with as many as possible.
