This is for the Darwin community and surrounding communities in Port St Lucie, FL. We have had several hit and run drivers in many of the counties within the state of Florida and Port St Lucie being a fast growing community, it is having an issue keeping their community safe due to the influx of new residents and thus more vehicles. We have cars and trucks speeding down our road all hours of the day. We have had a child killed by a hit and run driver in Ft Pierce. I have almost been hit by a speeding car on my own street. I witnessed an elementary child almost get hit by a car speeding in the middle of the road on my street. My granddaughter had to leap behind a vehicle to keep from getting hit when crossing the street in front of our house. A family had to run up in their yard to get away from a speeding car. A dog was hit at its mailbox by a speeding car. A woman walking her dog on the side of the road had someone chase her with their car. There are no sidewalks or any signs, Slow children at play or speed bumps anywhere and no streetlights. I'm afraid another child will be killed because there are no safety precautions in place to prevent this from happening. The City of Port St Lucie is making us go door to door during a pandemic to get signatures to even listen to our complaints. I'm desperate and need your help!
