Why this petition matters

Plastic bags have a significant environmental effect since they take a long time to degrade. Furthermore, as plastic bags decompose in the sun, hazardous compounds are released into the soil. When plastic bags are burned, poisonous substances are discharged, generating ambient air pollution. Fortunate enough, we have come to a solution where you can get rid of plastics, plus you can create something that benefits human beings. Manufacturers like Dow collaborate with plastic film recycling firms like Avangard Innovative to use recycled plastic bags and other plastic goods. I petition to produce more of this program here in the Philippines, mainly because Filipinos struggle because of an unhealthy environment. According to OneEarth, Filipinos consume over 212 million sachets and shopping bags every day. The country's reliance on single-use plastics is reflected in these figures. The Philippines' condition has not improved since it was a critical contributor to the worldwide plastic waste catastrophe. We are fortunate to have this solution. Avangard recycles low-density polyethene (LDPE) — often known as plastic film and used in plastic packaging, bags, and bottles — into high-quality recycled resin that can be utilized to create new goods. Dow then uses its material science technologies to transform recycled materials into various products, including outdoor furniture.
Educating individuals on the environmental and health costs of using plastic bags is another essential technique for behaviour change. We need to improve community awareness about bad garbage disposal practices. Participating in neighbourhood clean-up efforts, voluntarily recycling household waste, avoiding littering and illegal dumping of plastic shopping bags, using eco-friendly materials as an alternative, and adopting legislation that makes the use of plastic bags less appealing are all actions that who can take to reduce the impact of plastic bags on the environment.
