We, the undersigned community members, parents, caregivers, and advocates for New York City families, are writing to nominate and strongly support Attorney Angela Olivia Burton for the role of Commissioner of the New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS).

Angela Olivia Burton brings a unique combination of legal expertise, public interest advocacy, and lived experience defending families. Her career has focused on protecting constitutional family rights, advancing racial equity, and reforming child welfare systems to prioritize family preservation over unnecessary investigations and removals.

New York City families, particularly Black, Brown, and low-income communities, have faced disproportionate challenges under current systems. Angela Olivia Burton has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to community-centered solutions, cultural competence, and policy reform that ensures children remain safely with their families whenever possible.
