Support NHCF to continue to have services on the main floor in Old Town Salinas

New Harvest Christian Fellowship purchased the Beverly Fabrics building in Old Town Salinas on March 17, 2018. NHCF has been a part of the Old Town community for 22 years in the 357 Main St. building. They have been holding services on the main floor of the building throughout this time. The City Planning Committee has blocked/prevented further development in old Beverly Fabrics building. There is a zoning code in place that does not allow religious assembly on the ground floor of buildings facing Main St. within the Downtown Core Area of the Central City Overlay District (Zoning Code Amendment 2018-001, Section 37-40.310(a)(2). Pastor Ignacio, pastor of NHCF Salinas, has submitted a conditional use permit permitting NHCF to start development in the old Beverly Fabrics building and the ability to continue to have services on the main floor.

As members of the community we support the right to assemble and worship, as stated by our Constitution:

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
