Cancel early release for the Washington elementary school district. Many parents can’t provide transportation as early as 1:45 PM on Wednesdays for their children. Thus, forcing parents to pay for after school programs (like kids space) until they can pick up their children. Since Covid, there has been exponential teacher shortages causing higher rates to pay for these programs. I was told by Chaparral Elementary school that many of these free programs have “waitlists” so realistically there’s no way around PAYING for these so called FREE PUBLIC SCHOOLS. We can change early releases to late starts and actually put our tax dollars to use and pick up kids from their homes with school buses.
