West Village Housing Development Fund Corp. (WVH) was established in 2006 to ensure affordable housing to hundreds of New Yorkers in Manhattan's far West Village.  WVH residents are facing a massive 38% hike in their maintenance when WVH's real estate taxes go to market rates in March 2018.  This spike will make continued residence in WVH prohibitively expensive and an impossibility for many WVH residents.

There is, however, a solution that will offset this tax raise: to sell or lease WVH's Perry Street Garage located on the southwest corner of Perry and Greenwich Streets.  In order to implement this plan and save WVH homes, the accessory parking requirement needs to be removed.

WVH board members have worked on this change for the last two years with zoning experts and the support of elected officials.  Community Board 2 (CB2) recently voted against removing the accessory parking requirement.  WVH's affordability can only be maintained if the accessory parking requirement is removed and WVH has the ability to sell/lease the Perry Street Garage as something other than a parking facility.  

We implore CB2 to remove the accessory parking requirement to keep our WVH homes and community affordable.
