Recent Sale & Possible Development 2500 Williamsbridge Drug Treatment Facility Bronx
Why this petition matters
The recent sale of the property at 2500 Williamsbridge Road in the Bronx concerns the community because we are uncertain of the owner's intention for its use. A fear, although unconfirmed, is that the owner will develop a substance abuse treatment clinic at the property. We as a community oppose the development of any such clinic at this location for safety and quality-of-life concerns. This site is in close proximity to schools, houses of worship and a residential community - which makes its location as a treatment center a non-starter.
As your Civic Association, we the Allerton Avenue Homeowners & Tenants Association are reaching out to the two parties that have direct control of this matter. (1) The owner of 2500 Williamsbridge Road: Anna Marie Karkus & (2) the Office of Addiction Services and Support (OASAS) within the Office of Government Affairs and Federal Policy. We ask the owner to disclose to the community their intention for the property's use. In the event OASAS does receive an application for this development of the site, we ask that they do not approve the application without community approval.
Join us in solidarity to uncover the owner's intentions that has the potential to radically reshape the very character of a community that we call home.
