Community Against Mac Properties Project (Density and Parking)

Community Against Mac Properties Project (Density and Parking)
We are against the proposed Mac Properties (Mac) project on the 3500 block of Main Street, KC MO. In particular, the DENSITY and LACK OF PARKING PROVIDED. Mac is proposing approximately 385 apartments with ONLY 193 parking spaces. Mac is also building over two existing surface parking lots on Baltimore thereby eliminating an add'l 45 available parking spaces. THEY WILL BE PROVIDING A NET TOTAL OF ONLY 148 SPACES!
It gets worse.....read this.....
** 385 APARTMENTS = 525+ VEHICLES!! **
** MAC IS PROPOSING ONLY 148 SPACES FOR THESE 525+ VEHICLES **
**PLUS MAC HAS MADE NO PARKING PROVISION FOR 40,000 SQ. FT. OF PROPOSED RETAIL SPACE ** ADDITIONAL PARKING WILL BE NEEDED FOR 120+ MORE VEHICLES.
Lack of street parking is already a HUGE problem in the neighborhood (Armour to 36th Street, Main to Central).There is limited ability to absorb more vehicles. The Alps will be adding 110+vehicles to the streets after renovation. Mac has already saturated existing street parking particularly with the multi-story Westport Central, et.al.
This proposed Mac project will put hundreds more vehicles on the neighboring streets and a heavy increase in traffic. A grossly huge development which will be financed by US! We will be paying to have basically NO parking available on our streets and much more traffic.
------------------------------------------------------------
We would like to see the following:
Primarily, a sensible plan to handle all of these additional vehicles;
2. less density in the project (250 apartments or less);
3. a parking structure (underground or surface) built by Mac or the City or both (Pay-per-use); and
4. parking permits for the homeowners/residents presently in the neighborhood to protect what little parking they currently have...if.... satisfactory provisions aren't made to handle this vast influx of vehicles due to this huge development.
We are counting on the Mayor and City Council of KCMO and the City Plan Commission to step up...
Hold Mac Properties Accountable!
Set Standards! and
Protect the Residents in the Neighborhood!
Thank you!!
