Hyderabad is losing its battle with climate change and part of it is due to their poor waste management. Hyderabad generates 7.51 lakh tonnes of waste or 751,000,000 kg of waste, and out of this waste only 20% is being recycled, and on top of that when the waste is transported to a dump yard only 10% of the recyclable waste can be recycled. The reason being is wet waste. Wet waste is also considered as kitchen waste. This includes cooked food, uncooked food, vegetable and fruit peels, etc. This waste mixes with the recyclable waste and when they are sent to the government dump yard to be separated they are unable to separate the wet waste and recyclable waste, and get improper segregation and can’t recycle the recycle waste.

Organic waste converters(OWC) are used to convert the organic wet waste into valuable compost for organic farming activities. If we use these converters to convert our wet waste we can process the wet waste and make it easiest to recycle the recyclable waste and separate it with the other waste but we can also send the valuable compost gained from the converter to our farmers in Hyderabad. Hyderabad is losing its battle against climate change and waste plays a major role in it as it produces the greenhouse gases(methane, carbon dioxide)that heat up our environment. With these converters we are able to process our wet waste and are able to recycle a lot more of the waste we dispose of, and we are also able to give our farmers the compost gained. If we are able to put these organic waste converters near the recycle and trash bins of the apartment complexes and communities and make it a requirement to put wet waste into it, then we will be able to process all of their wet waste.  If we are able to put these converters in the private sectors of Hyderabad we will be able to fight against climate change as we will be cutting down our wet waste and processing it meaning that our wet waste and recyclable waste won’t get mixed again. Thus our environment will become more green and more sustainable and our farmers will be getting valuable compost to use.

The goal of this petition is to help fight against climate change and save our planet. Waste is a major problem for climate change especially in Hyderabad. If we are able to install these convertors in the communities of Hyderabad we will be able to fight against climate change and protect our environment.
