Stop the changes to Hinchingbrooke School admissions policy

Hinchingbrooke School in Huntingdon is run by ACES Academies Trust. The Trust are proposing changes to their admissions policy that will impact local children across Huntingdonshire.

Historically children across the district within the current catchment area will attend Hinchingbrooke School for their secondary education. ACES Academies Trust is proposing that other children are given priority over the current catchment schools if they are:

  • Children of staff employed at a school in ACES Academies Trust
  • Children who attend a primary school in ACES Academies Trust. Currently this is only Cromwell Academy Primary School situated next to Hinchingbrooke Park.

This could mean that children who currently would expect to attend Hinchingbrooke School will not be given a place. ACES Academy are looking to expand the number of primary schools in the Trust, meaning other schools across Cambridgeshire could have priority access to places. This would result in current prospective pupils having to travel further for their secondary education.

A secondary school has been proposed for Godmanchester, however given that a location for the school is yet to be found it is increasingly likely this would not come to fruition.
