Stop discrimination against LGBT students

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students experience bullying and discrimination in school for the reason that they do not conform to gender stereotypes. They are being bullied for how they look and for who they really are. Physical abuse, maltreatment, violence and harassment. These are just some examples of what they go through in school every day. This is a reality and we should do something about it.
Studies have shown that 30% of LGBT students miss their classes because they feel unsafe. To add to this, it has also been found out that their bad experiences in school results to depression, thoughts of suicide (Friedman, M., 2014), and alcohol and drug abuse (Blackman, G. J., 2017). This then is now without a doubt a violation to Article XIV of the 1987 Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines which states that: "The State shall protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education at all levels, and shall take appropriate steps to make such education accessible to all."
This is exactly why you, me and the whole society should stop discrimination against LGBT students. They too are humans and they deserve to be respected just like everybody else. We must always see to it that we are mindful of our actions and words. Together, let us spread the love and help in creating a peaceful and hatred-free world.
