Ethnic Discrimination can be seen in almost everything. In healthcare, restaurants, social media, politics, job oppurtunities, and even in public transportation. In our modern time now, ethnicity can be seen as a degrading factor of an individual and a measurement of your social status. And this should stop now.

Despite the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act of 1997, the security of their rights enshrined in the 1987 Philippine Constitution, and the abundance of international covenants and treaties, there is no joke in saying ethnic groups are still longing for acceptance and to be seen as normal people.

Hospitals delay healthcare services and even refuse to give it to them, air conditioned buses do not even let them ride, no proper job oppurtunities are offered to them and most of all they are bullied everywhere they go. These are just few instances of how discrimination happens.

All of us should remind ourselves that culture and diversity is not a downgrade but as a representation of who we are and of the people around us. Let us all embrace our diversity and uniqueness as we strive for unity and peace as one nation. Culture is not a sin.
