I am a resident or neighbor of the Bearspaw community and I oppose the installation of a wireless communications tower (a 50 meter self supporting structure) on the property located at Site: 30034 Township Road 254B, Rocky View County.

Our concerns raised to Evolve Surface Strategies INC were not adequately addressed and our opposition remains for the following reasons:

1.  The location and design will be an eyesore, scarring the natural landscape and views that we currently experience living in a rural area. Rocky View County’s policy regarding Commercial Communication Facilities states in Section 18 (1) the following: “In consideration of the rural vistas of the County, Planning and Development favours facility locations that protect prominent natural or cultural features and views.”

2.  It will have a negative affect on the property values in our community.

3.  There are 8 inhabited dwellings within 500 meters of the installation which contravenes Section 18 (2) in Rocky View County’s policy as it relates to Commercial Communications Facilities.

4.  This installation is less than 2 km. (Approx. 1.7 km) away from an existing tower which contravenes Section 18 (4) in Rocky View County’s policy regarding Commercial Communication Facilities.

5.  Even though it is not recognized under current legislation in Canada, there is compelling research that the radiation from cell phone towers poses significant health risks.

I request that Rocky View County and Rogers Communications CANCEL plans to install a wireless communications tower on Site 30034 Township Road 254B, Rocky View County.
