CGC is moving the market on certified comic books, but they refuse to use or follow the industry standard as put forth by the Overstreet Price Guide. Collectors and vendors, who can rely on grading by experienced and educated collectors, can absolutely not rely on CGC following the same standard. It's time CGC fall in line and take up the Overstreet Grading Standards as their own, rather than adhering to their own standards which undulate between more lax and more lenient than the Overstreet standard each year. Many people have submitted the exact same book multiple times and received grades that vary widely. This is evidence of a fickle and standardless operation which seeks to limit books in high grade. That is at best irresponsible. If it were discovered that any of the individuals responsible for grading these books also happened to own books in high grade, it would at least give the impression of impropriety. In order for there to be trust between the collector, the invester, the vendor and the CGC, CGC must publicly decide to embrace the industry standard, i.e. the Overstreet Standard, or else detail their own standard for grading books.
